Free Hugs!

August 28th, 2007

We’re Internet superstars! Good folks from the Free Hug Campaign were filming one of their videos in Zagreb and we happened to walk by. Watch the video: we walk into the scene about two thirds into it. The music and the video picture the spirit of that day completely — good friends and smiling strangers, great town, fantastic memories

Go West!

August 19th, 2007

Dearest friends,
after talking about moving out of Minneapolis for years, we’re finally doing it. G got a great job offer in San Francisco and while B is planning to keep his employment for now, he is looking for new opportunities as well. No solid move date yet but we’re tentatively targeting November 1.

While we’re excited about moving to a new, snow-free city, parting with our social family (that would be you) is going to be hard. So, here are a few things that we can do between now and November.

1. Get together for lunch/dinner/drinks/game of Wii Bowling etc.
2. Help me schedule one he!! of a going-away party.
3. Start planning your trip to San Francisco.
4. Tell all our friends that a fabulous loft is for rent in the Warehouse district.

While we don’t have a place in San Francisco yet, we promise to have enough sleeping space for friends — and we hope you will take advantage of it!

My Wife is Awesome

August 18th, 2007

As an anniversary gift G decided to acquire an iPhone for me. If you have been living under a rock, this is the coolest technology gadget to come out since the Apple II and possibly the Gutenberg press. It is awesome, amazing, just incredible, and seeing as I hate waiting (I’m not impatient), she agreed to purchase this little computing far before the actual anniversary date. Never has a gadget captivated the Net audience as this one, and never has a gadget actually lived up to such high expectations. I expect you will see a lot more random photos here taken with the iPhone, and probably a lot more random, short posts on things that are happening as they happen due to the iPhone’s constant and consistent connectivity.

I’m having fun.

Stuck!

August 11th, 2007

Amazingly, with all my traveling, this is the first time this has ever happened to me - I got stuck over night. The good news is that we are stuck in Amsterdam, one of the more interesting and accessible cities to be stuck in (far better than say, Detroit).

So, for whatever reason our AMS-MSP flight was delayed about 18 hours. Rumor has it that there were delays and the crew required their down time. All fine and good, but we do loose a day converting to US Central time, but we got to explore Amsterdam for a few hours. One cool thing about this town, the public transportation is great, so it only cost about 12 Euro for the two of us to get downtown.

Well…..

August 10th, 2007

…..we’re about ready to head back home. When I say ready, I don’t mean we want to, or are psychologically ready to do this, but we know we must.

We’ll have some pictures and more detailed information from both B and G in the days after we return, but for now, let’s just say we skipped a day in Venice to spend more time in Croatia (big thanks K, Sanjin, et al :-)

At any rate, we will be home soon and have some time to write up some of our experiences (and request comments from our co-travelers for more color/perspective).
