…but our family is going to Thailand. Just moments ago we booked our flights to Bangkok - and amazingly, on of the tickets was free!

And what are you going to do to offset your CO2 emissions from flying all the way over there?
Tough question. I don’t do it either, so don’t feel bad.
Well, I did look into this even before you posted the comment. According to the carbonfund.org, the direct carbon offset for that trip for two of us is about $50. That doesn’t look too bad and I was thinking about just paying and getting that moral weight off my shoulders.
However, if you look at my (or anyone else’s) overall footprint for the year (electricity used, car rides, heating gas etc…), the trip becomes almost insignificant drop into the giant pile of pollution I am producing :-(.
